A free film screening . . .

Age of Stupid

7pm, Wednesday 18th August 2010
Humph Hall
85 Allambie Road,
Allambie Heights

Our fifth Humph Hall film screening was a film by the director of ‘McLibel’ and the producer of the oscar-winning ‘One Day in September’.

The Age of Stupid stars Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking at old footage of seven real people from now and asking: “Why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?” [Duration: 89m]

"Bold, supremely provocative and hugely important . . . a cry from the heart as much as a roar for necessary change." (The Telegraph, UK)

"So tightly constructed & dynamic you leave the cinema energised rather than terrified . . . hits home like a hammer blow." (ABC, Australia)

"A deeply inconvenient kick up the backside . . . you won't see a more important film this year." (News of the World, UK)

Guest speakers were to include Lee Rhiannon (Lead NSW Greens Senate candidate). However, at the last minute she was unable to attend and her place was taken by Lee's fellow Greens Legislative Councillor, Sylvia Hale. Matthew Drake-Brockmann, the Greens candidate for Tony Abott's seat of Warringah, was also present.

People came with supper to share from 6.30pm ready for a 7pm start.

Following the film there was a discussion about the issues raised.

Look at photos taken on the night.
